We are ready to drive you into the future of global business.

Building Economic Relationships

Starting as the American Bangladesh Economic Forum (ABEF) in 1988, it took eight more years to formally establish the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) in 1996 to promote the economic relationships between Bangladesh and the United States of America.

AmCham Bangladesh is an accredited member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — the largest business federation in the United States, representing the interests of over 3 million U.S. companies — and serves as AmCham's voice in Washington, D.C. on trade and investment-related policies.

Four principles that guide the Chamber.

Exchange of information between the USA and Bangladesh for greater understanding of economic potentials and opportunities.

03→

04→

§ Anti-competition

The Chamber discourages any conduct that might be illegal under U.S. antitrust laws or Bangladesh's Competition Act 2012.

  • The Chamber is not to be used as a conduit or enabler of exchanges of any competitively sensitive information.
  • All members understand that any document produced by the Chamber, in whatever form, will be made public — either automatically or upon request by any party.
  • Should members be present at a meeting or event where a competitor engages in acts appearing to violate this Code, they will immediately call their concerns to the attention of the other party.
  • Members and agents are each responsible for compliance with the Code; day-to-day observance rests with members and agents of the Chamber.
§ Compliance

How we keep every Chamber initiative in line.

  • At the beginning of each project involving the Chamber's members, all participants are made aware of the Chamber's guideline and its implementation. The Chamber ExCo reviews each project to ensure consistency with the guideline.
  • For each meeting, a written agenda is drafted and circulated in advance so participants can ensure alignment with the guideline and with their own antitrust compliance policies.
  • Every agenda contains, as its first item, a competition-law caution. The Chair draws attention to it at the start of each meeting and the summary records the same.
  • A comprehensive summary of each meeting is taken and circulated to the participants.
